本俚語字面意思是“把某人丟進獅群中”。獅子是極為兇猛的食人動物（man-eater），若被扔進獅群中，當然是件萬分危險的事，所以用來形容類似把人逼上絕路。白話的說法就是“讓某人死得很難看”。
