★a kangaroo court

kangaroo是“袋鼠”，而court則是“法庭”，a kangaroo court的字面意思是“袋鼠法庭”，實際上指的是“私設法庭”，或是徒具形式的“非法審判”。將袋鼠跟法庭扯上關系的起源難以考證，其中一種說法是，私設法庭的審判往往毫無章法，難以預測(unpredictable)，就像活蹦亂跳的袋鼠一般跳來跳去。
